Sand catching or sand trapping serves to recover fine grain sizes. Sand traps can be used to simultaneously clean and drain wet sand from upstream screening machines with spray facilities.
The sand-water mix to be processed – the feed slurry – runs through a feed impact chamber which is protected against wear, and into the sand trap. By means of the buckets inside the wheel construction, the sand from the tub is scooped and dewatered. The buckets are equipped with suitable dewatering mats.
Suitably large pools ensure an efficient recovery of quartz and separation of elutriable material.
The planetary gear driving mechanism guarantees lower maintenance and operating costs at higher operational availability.
